PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR


Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Shop Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the repair and assembly of reciprocating compressor components, primarily composed of valves, packing cases, actuators, and other related equipment. This position focuses on optimizing production processes, meeting quality standards, and effectively managing resources to meet production schedules.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate daily production operations, ensuring adherence to established production schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor and optimize equipment utilization to maintain efficient workflows and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production Control, and Programming teams to address production capacity, manufacturing methods, and drawing tolerances for new jobs
  • Assist with the development and implementation of production standards, including reviewing tooling and fixturing for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage production team members to create a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
  • Support production specialists by troubleshooting manufacturing challenges and implementing solutions to meet production goals.
  • Ensure proper documentation of production activities, including job completions, material usage, and quality control reports.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and coordinate maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of production procedures, recommending new equipment or tooling as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Certifications/Skills:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively guide and motivate team members.
  • Familiarity with reciprocating compressor components, manufacturing methods, and shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and lapping tables.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience with tooling, fixturing, and process improvement in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Knowledge of production scheduling, routing, and capacity planning.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proactive problem–solving and decision–making skills.
Minimum Education:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of 5 years&rsqyil experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience with tooling, machining, and compressor components is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Capable of standing, walking, and working in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
